Technology is changing the way we do everything. In almost every aspect of life now, we have the opportunity to transact online. And it really should be no different when it comes to church giving.

When it comes to church giving, we can’t make the mistake of thinking that people will continue to do things the way they’ve always done them. We can't assume everyone’s going to give in-person on Sunday morning.

The reality is that someone might be sitting down at 10:00 pm on a Tuesday, looking to give to your church because they heard a great story. Maybe they were inspired by something you posted on social media. If they go to your church website and aren’t able to give on the website, that’s a missed opportunity.

Now, more than ever, it’s important to have online giving available and easy to use on your church website. With that in mind, here are four tips on how to increase online giving at your church.

Let’s dig in.

#1 – Make it Easy to Give

Your church website should be a place for people to participate in giving at your church. This means it’s vital to make online giving incredibly easy.

Don’t make visitors search around or dig to figure out how to give. Make the process as clear and easy as it possibly can be.

#2 – Share Your Vision

When it comes to giving on your website, having a clear call to action is key, but you should also be clear about what happens when people give.

Talk about God’s heart for giving from the Bible. Tell stories of what giving at your church has meant to your church and community.

These are different ways you can inspire people to give, while also fostering community and making your website an incredible tool that encourages giving.

#3 – Talk About Ways to Give

As you're looking to help people give, be sure to mention it—often.

Remind people of the ways they can give on Sunday or even in your bulletin.

Create PowerPoint slides for how to give.

Point people in the right direction—whether it be through your app or through your church website.

Let them know the different ways they can give.

Don’t worry; you’re not being pushy. You’re actually being helpful—providing frequent reminders and information to make giving as seamless and simple as possible.

#4 – Encourage Recurring Giving

You can avoid slumps in donations by offering church members the option to set up recurring giving. This is a massive win-win.

Here’s why:

Setting up recurring giving allows people to give regularly by setting it and forgetting it. They no longer have to remember to give and this makes it incredibly easy for them to contribute faithfully each month. In this scenario, your church also benefits from having consistent and reliable finances available, which makes a huge difference in your budgeting and community involvement.

Over to You

That’s it.

To increase giving through your church’s website, simplicity and consistency are essential.

Make online giving easy to use, and regularly share how your church can participate in God’s work through your church by giving.
