How To Add Studio-Level Control To Your Video Streaming: Camera Switching, Lower Thirds, And More With Stream Deck

-

Video live streaming is the new black.

If you're not planning on investing in video streaming more in 2023 than you did in 2022, you need to reconsider your plans.

In today's world, a church's video presence is more important than ever. A well-produced video can help communicate your message to a wider audience and reach people who may not be able to attend services in person.

However, producing a high-quality video takes time, effort, and the right tools. One tool that every church should consider is the Elgato Stream Deck.

What is the Elgato Stream Deck?

The Elgato Stream Deck is a devices that allows you to control multiple aspects of your video production with the push of a button. It includes 15 customizable LCD buttons that can be programmed to control nearly anything in your production workflow. For example, you can use the Stream Deck to start and stop recording, switch between camera angles, change audio levels, and more.

Why is the Elgato Stream Deck Important for Churches?

There are two main reasons why the Elgato Stream Deck is an important tool for churches.

First, it can help save time during production by allowing you to control multiple aspects of your production with just a few button presses. This is especially helpful if you're running a live event where you need to be able to quickly make changes on the fly. It will immediately elevate the production quality of your video streaming.

Second, the Elgato Stream Deck can help improve the quality of your final product by giving you more control over your production workflow. By being able to quickly and easily make changes during production, you're less likely to make mistakes that could negatively impact the quality of your final video. This will save you tons of time in post-editing. The time you'll save alone will help recoup the cost of the device quickly.

Here's a great video that shares just SOME of the things you can do with video switcher functions of Stream Deck:

MORE THAN JUST VIDEO

The great part about this small investment is that you'll benefit in so many other ways outside of video streaming. For example, you can set-up triggers for multiple actions in your workflow that you do often. There are tons of apps that it integrates with or controls.

I have it set-up to give me one-touch control of Zoom functions so that I spend less time trying to find different functions and focus more on the conversations.

We'll have to share other ways to use the Stream Deck to increase your productivity in future articles. But for now, it's a superb tool to have that will change how you produce your live stream videos for church. I promise.

  1. Dude! You left out some of the most important things. First, it can control ProPresenter, but MORE IMPORTANTLY, there is third-party software called, “Companion” that enables it to control SOO MUCH MORE. AND, from ProPresenter, you can control IT, so a slide or macro could send a signal to it to turn on your projector, switch lighting scenes, cut between cameras, and so much more. It’s the most powerful piece of equipment I use because of Companion.
