Canva is a wonderful online graphic design tool for church communicators (and everyone else who’s ever had to design a flyer or graphic). I’ve used Canva to design graphics for this site, presentations, social media headers, Facebook images, and much more. It’s an incredibly easy tool to use that can help with a plethora of design needs.
- Magic Resize, a tool to automatically convert (and resize) an image into your preferred design type (example: Facebook post, Twitter header, Pinterest graphics and etc.)
- Saved organization branding colors, fonts, logos in the Canva system.
- Grants you the ability to upload your own fonts and much more.
For-profit organizations are charged $12.95 per month (or $9.95 per month if paid annually) to access Canva for Work’s new features. However, church and nonprofits can qualify for free access to these additional features. Companies who don’t qualify as non-profits can still try Canva for Work for free for 30 days.
I’m excited to hear about these new features as they offer simple ways to collaborate and unify design and communication needs to help organizations stay on the same page. The good news is that the company now offers Canva for Nonprofits for free to team sizes of 10 members of less.
Churches interested in using Canva for Nonprofits need to have an existing Canva account. As soon as churches have set up their free account, they can fill out the Nonprofit Application Form. The company does require documentation that validates a church’s charitable or not-for-profit status.
Canva regulates how many teams an organization can have on its free account, and the Canva for Nonprofits doesn’t include free access to premium images or elements, so if you decide to use paid elements, you’ll still be prompted to purchase them upon download, just like it works in the free Canva version.
Overall, Canva can be a great tool for many churches to tackle their design needs. It’s a great solution and the new free features can help church teams collaborate and look more professional.
