The mission of ChurchTechToday is to provide technology resources for today's church. Over the past few months we've been wondering as a staff how we could do that better. We've wrestled with questions about... What should we cover more? What should we cover less? What technologies are we missing? Our goal is to provide resources that meet the needs of the local church, without adding noise to an already busy life. To do that better, we need your help.

Changing churches is never easy. For those who are very connected through volunteering, children's ministry, and other aspects of church community, change is rarely sought after. Many people feel called away from their current church for a number of different reasons. Moving to a new state or city is one obvious situation, but there are a slew of other reasons why people leave their church and join another, or quit church altogether. What leads up to this point is perhaps, a can of worms to be opened.

Providing take-aways, or giveaways, for first time guests to your church is a great way to get thought-provoking Gospel materials into the hands of people who are looking for answers to spiritual questions. I recently visited a church in a different town that inspired me to research this idea of church "swag."

Several years ago I posted a “tongue in cheek” article about NOT bringing your Bible to church. A number of readers missed the humor in it completely. As the conversation unfolded one interesting thought emerged. Many people lack the self-control to just read their Bible during church and not text, Facebook, Tweet, check email, etc. This article is a response to my original article. This time taking a positive, non “tongue in cheek” approach to ways you can “bring your Bible to church.”

Many churches offer midweek ministry options. They are a great way to keep people in connection with God and with other believers in addition to Sunday services. While some people opt not to participate in midweek classes, studies, or youth groups due to distance from church or their schedules, many do find it wonderful to have options for connecting with others and the Word of God during the week. From babies to grandparents, there are many ways to get together.

There are many software options available to make sure Sunday morning is a success. While most of us have a soft spot in our hearts for PowerPoint, it is far from the best option for churches for a number of reasons. With various other software applications used by church techs such as Planning Center Online, Google products, and other church software solutions related to management and workflow, there's a wide world of worship software options that can find a place in any church budget - from small to mega.
