Marked as one of the most desired giving options for 2015, Elexio church software has just added text-to-give to their line-up of integrated features for churches.

We interviewed Emily Kantner, Communication Specialist for Elexio, about the text-to-give details and why Elexio has added these features:

Why has Elexio added text giving? What evidence have you seen that this is a feature that will get used?

Text to Give is just one more way that churches can make giving faster and easier for their people—especially for guests or first-time givers that don’t want to take the time to create an account online. With stand-alone text giving options seeing great success, we wanted to add this feature to Elexio’s integrated ChMS at no extra cost to our churches. While we have had some clients inquire about this feature, the rollout is a result of our team trying to stay ahead of the curve and give our clients new tools before they even realize they need them.

Do you have any churches using text giving already?

Elexio Launches Text to GiveWe have a client who recently switched to Elexio and was planning to sign up with an outside text giving service. We worked hard to make sure this feature was available to the client quickly so they didn’t need to make another transition or spend extra money on a service that we could provide for free.

Educating the congregation is a huge piece of rolling out text giving. How will Elexio help churches explain how to use text giving and help them implement it into their arsenal of giving options?

We understand that these tools don’t do any good unless people are actually using them. That’s why we equip churches with plenty of resources to get staff on board and to educate the church community. Printed materials, customizable slides, and online help information make it easy for churches to promote this new tool. We recommend that it starts from the top—getting church leadership to personally use these tools will aid in getting the entire church community to adopt Text to Give.

How will churches benefit from text giving and what are the main objectives with rolling out this feature?

We want churches to see increased and more consistent giving as a result of the Text to Give rollout. Even during the summer when people are on vacation and contributions typically dip, Text to Give can provide consistency for churches. Integrated with the ChMS database, it will save valuable time for church staff and volunteers because the giving records are automatically updated. We’d like to see all of our churches get on board with this new easy-to-use, free feature.

Here’s how text to give works:

  1. Text the church’s keyword and any dollar amount to the short code
  2. Follow the link in the text response—it will open a browser
  3. Enter billing information (debit or credit card)
  4. Receive a confirmation text that the contribution was received
  5. After entering payment information that first time, just text the fund name and dollar amount for future
  6. Donations—it’s literally giving in seconds.

It’s a great options for churches because:

  1. It’s safe and secure.
  2. It’s integrated with the church database, saving staff valuable time and labor.
  3. It’s fast and convenient for donors.
    a. They can give at any time from their smartphones.
    b. They don’t need to carry cash or checks.
  4. It encourages first-time givers to donate.
  5. It can mean increased and more consistent giving for the church.
  6. It comes free with the Elexio Database.

If your church is interested in adding mobile giving options, Elexio might be a good choice for you.
