As a parent, you are concerned for your child's safety on the Internet. Teens and even young children as young as one are using mobile technology on a regular basis. Because technology changes so fast, it's helpful to have a sense of some of the concerns we all face. By being aware, and taking appropriate steps to safeguard our children, we can be aware of the dangers and teach our families how to move about the web safely.
Kids as young as five should be taught Internet safety. Why?
- 20% of one-year-olds own a tablet.
- 28% of two-year-olds don't need help using mobile devices.
- 37% of three- to four-year-olds browse the web and watch videos multiple hours per week.
The Internet can be dangerous for children and teens.
- False identities are easy to create.
- Not all information is private.
- Internet predators are looking for kids.
- Inappropriate content, including pornography, is easily found, even without actively looking for it.
But still, 68% of children said their parents never checked their online activity.
The following infographic shows many facts and figures about kids and the Internet.

Hey Lauren!!!
Have read many blogs here but this one is one of my favorite. Nice Ingofraphic.
Just stumbled onto this post. Great infographic Lauren and post! As a parent of two beautiful kids, 6-8 years old I really appreciate this. Though we limit it, they are often on their tablets. We took the step of setting up security and restrictions for their browsing etc. I cannot believe the stat of 68% of kids saying their parents do not check their activity online!
