2 Reasons You Should Continually Ask, “What’s Next?” in Tech Ministry

-

Two of my favorite scripture verses that I read daily when I am at work are; Jeremiah 33:3, which says, “Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.” Exodus 33:18 says “show me your glory.” I love these scripture verses because it reminds me to daily ask God an important question: What’s next?question

This question is powerful and if you find that you, as the leader of your tech-ministry, are not asking this question, then you need to. Here are two reasons why I highly recommend asking God what’s next on the horizon:

#1 – You want change. Be it minor or major adjustments to your tech-ministry, change is rut-prevention. At our church The Father’s House, I desire and embrace change and I expect the same of the people that report to me. I never want to see our tech-ministry fall into a rut of any kind.

#2 – It helps keeps your dependence on God. This is right where we all belong. He is the releaser of all things good. He has the ideas.  How can we make better use of the technologies we currently have?  God knows what new technologies we need to implement, and He knows what people to add to the team, etc. The fact is that He loves giving good gifts to his kids and all He requires of us is that we have faith, we believe, and we ask.

When I ask the “What’s Next” question for our tech-ministry, I try and focus on specific prayer points to ask God. Here are some examples:

  • Show us new technologies that we are not yet aware of and have never considered trying.
  • Expose technologies we need to eliminate that could be a distraction to our congregation so that your word can be more clearly communicated and received.
  • Bring us new people with new perspectives and new levels of experience.
  • Reveal to us new configurations of our existing technology that we have not yet discovered.
  • Bring new levels of awareness of changes we need to make in our team, our systems to reveal God’s glory in a fresh way.

I don’t know about you but I want more of God’s glory to be revealed in our local churches and through our technology tools in whatever way God deems necessary. So let’s get in the habit of asking the “What’s Next?” question and let God reveal his plan to keep our tech-ministries relevant. Amen?

  1. I love the approach you took in writing this post. Nice reminder of who should be guiding out path in what we do in our tech work. I design with a ministry heart, and this fit right in. Thanks Bryan.
